Before you get in touch
Do we need detailed technical specs prepared?
No. A simple frustration is enough to start with: "This takes our dispatch team 3 hours every morning" or "Our database crashes every Friday." I’ll help you turn that into a plan.
Will you try to force us to replace our entire software setup?
No. If your 15-year-old accounting database works well, I’ll build around it, for example by automating data entry, rather than risk an expensive rewrite.
Can we meet face-to-face in Calgary?
Yes. I’m based in Calgary and prefer meeting where the work happens, so I can see how the work actually gets done.
How much does it cost?
The intro call is free. After that, everything is billed at $110 per hour. A consultation usually takes 1–2 hours, and if you go ahead with a project, that fee is credited toward it.
How do I know a project won’t run over budget?
Before any project starts, you get a written estimate and we agree on a budget cap. You get itemized invoices, and I check with you before going past the agreed amount. Nothing extra happens without your OK.
How long does a project take?
It depends on the size. A single automation can take days; replacing an older system usually takes weeks to a few months, delivered in stages so you see progress along the way. You’ll get a timeline with your estimate.
You’re one person. What if you’re unavailable?
A fair question, especially since I warn about relying on one person. Everything I build is documented, uses standard, widely known tools, and lives in accounts you own. Any competent developer could pick it up if needed.
What technology do you use?
Widely used, open tools: TypeScript and Python, PostgreSQL databases, and hosting in Canadian data centres. I pick boring, proven technology on purpose, so your system is easy to maintain for years.
Who is this not a good fit for?
Large enterprises that need a full team on day one, or projects that need someone in the office full-time. In those cases I’ll tell you on the intro call and, where I can, point you somewhere better.
